Effective July 1, 2026. This is exactly what MMO Reconnect stores and why; it will grow honestly as features ship.

What we collect

You can sign in three ways: with Discord, with a code sent to your email, or with a passkey once you have added one. Whichever you use, we store the Handle you choose (which is never your Discord username) and your email address. If you sign in with Discord we also store your Discord ID and basic profile info. Your email is shown only to you, on your own settings page, and is used to sign you in and for account purposes, not marketing.

We collect digital identities, not real-world ones. No real names, no locations.

Character claims

The characters, servers, and guilds you claim are treated as the historical record they are, not as personal data about you as a real person. They show your Handle when visible. You decide who can see each claim: Public, Findable (the default), or Private. See Terms of Use for how that works.

Cookies

We use one cookie: keeping you signed in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, so there's no consent banner cluttering the site.

Analytics

We use cookieless, aggregate analytics (Plausible). No cookies, no fingerprinting, no advertising identifiers. We can see that pages were visited, not who visited them.

Discord data

We use your Discord sign-in once, at signup, to read your basic profile (your account email and avatar). We never store or log your Discord access token.

We no longer request permission to add you to any server, so signing in cannot join servers on your behalf. If you granted that permission in the past it now does nothing, because we hold no token to act on it. To join our community server, use the invite link on your profile whenever you like.

Email sign-in

You can sign in with a code we email to you. We store your email address on your account so we can send that code and reach you about your account. Sign-in codes are short-lived and single-use, and we use Resend to deliver them. Your email is never listed anywhere others can see, and it is never shared with other people on the site.

Passkeys

If you add a passkey, your device creates a key pair and keeps the private half. We store only the public half and a small signature counter, tied to your account. Your fingerprint, face, or device PIN never leaves your device and is never sent to us. You can rename or remove a passkey any time in Settings, and every passkey is erased when you delete your account.

Reconnecting with people

When you hail someone, they see the character you hailed as and why you might have known each other, never your other characters and never your identity. Ignoring a hail is silent, and the sender is never told either way.

A reconnection forms only when you both hail each other. At that point a Discord profile link is shared between just the two of you, so you can pick up where you left off. It is never shown on your profile, in search, or on any public page. You choose in Settings whether that link is shared automatically or only when you decide to, and you can stop sharing it at any time.

Deleting your account

Delete your account any time from Settings, and it's actually deleted, not flagged. Your Handle, email, Discord link, and any passkeys are erased immediately and completely.

One honest nuance: the character and guild names from your claims stay in our history log, because that log is the historical record the site exists to keep. Once your account is deleted, though, nothing connects that history back to you. No document, page, or search result ties those names to your identity anymore.

MMO Reconnect doesn't use game logos, box art, or screenshots. Any game or franchise art you see is our own original work, made to evoke a game, never to reproduce its actual branding. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, email privacy@mmoreconnect.com with details and we'll look into it.
